Due Date: October 26, 2013. In 2 weeks my MD informed me that they will stop trying to prevent my little guy from entering this world if he chooses to come a tad early.
Gender: Baby Boy! And don’t even get me started on the freaking adorable airplane themed baby shower that my MIL and SIL threw me this weekend. One picture really shows how all-out they went:
I will post later this week and share more photos because it was the nicest party that I’ve ever had thrown in my honor, second to that of my wedding…incredible.
How Big is Baby this week: Baby is the size of a honeydew and is pretty much done growing in length. He is packing on the pounds over the next few weeks however and currently weights roughly between 4.2 and 5.8pounds.
Movement: Ninja. He has to be a ninja. He is so incredibly active that even my MIL told me she would look over and see me grabbing my sides because he can pack a serious punch (or kick). My SIL told me that her little guy was the same way in utero and I can see first hand how our son will probably be when he is Lucas’ age as Lucas was all over the place this weekend.
Feeling: Now that my baby shower has come and gone and I have only 4 weeks or less of pregnancy left, things are getting SO real. The night after the shower my MIL and SIL were sharing stories about birth and I Just sat their in amazement (and some horror, I’m not going to lie) as they shared their experiences. They kept reminding me that all the pain and discomfort and lost dignity of child birth is totally worth it once you get to see and hold your newborn. I would say that my fear of delivery has diminished and I’m more anxious to meet our son than anything. I can’t wait to see what he looks like and experience that first moment when I get to hold him.
I was also completely overwhelmed by people’s generosity at my shower. Paul and I received so many gifts, many of them personalized, that we just feel so blessed to have such amazing family and friends. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing SIL and MIL that put in so much energy and time into making my baby shower so special. I feel like they really went out of their way for me and I know that my mama was watching the entire time.
Food Cravings: For the most part my cravings have subsided. I still enjoy fruits and other sweets, but since my tummy is a lot smaller in size thanks to my growing bambino, I have only been having small meals.
Food Aversions: None.
Clothes: Still a mix of maternity and regular clothing with only maternity leggings and maxi dresses and skirts.
Stretch Marks: No sign of them, it’s a miracle! I’m still using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter twice daily and moisturizing additional times throughout the day to help with dry skin and itching.
Sleep: So so. It is more uncomfortable to sleep on my side now that my belly is huge and I still wake up multiple times to pee. I’m just glad to have my hubby back in town since he fled the state due to all the estrogen to go hang out with his dad.
Symptoms: Growing belly, some swelling in my hands, decrease in appetite since my stomach is pretty much smashed into my ribs, lots of kicks and movement including jabs and rolls into my side, decreased energy level, and nerves and excitement as my due date nears!
What I Miss : Nothing! We can’t wait to meet our son!
Best Moment: My baby shower and getting to see my best girlfriends who flew in from out of town. I love catching up with them and picking up where we left off last; I seriously have the best friends in the world .
